After trying out Kraken Kratom’s Ultra Enhanced Kratom Powder, I was super curious to test out their regular (non-enhanced) Kratom Powder.
Red Maeng Da is a true classic and one of my all-time favorites. For me, it’s everything I need in one strain. It provides the best mood boost, moderate discomfort relief, and it keeps me level-headed WITHOUT hindering my motivation. So naturally, I decided to have a taste of Kraken Kratom’s Red Maeng Da!
What is Kraken Kratom’s Red Maeng Da (Thai) Kratom Powder all about?
I was confused as to why Kraken Kratom refers to this product as “Maeng Da Thai”. Typically you see it categorized as one or the other. Thai or Maeng Da. After doing some research, I discovered that since Maeng Da strains come from Thailand, Maeng Da has just been considered a higher quality version of a Thai Leaf.
I also noticed that they just have Red Thai sold separately.

Overall Product Quality – Red Maeng Da (Thai)
The Red Maeng Da (Thai) powder was nice and fluffy with a lovely red undertone that got even more pronounced after I mixed it in water. Like most Kratom, the taste was earthy and bitter. Sometimes you can get lucky with certain batches and the taste isn’t too bad, but this wasn’t anything special. The texture, however, was wonderful! It dissolved within seconds! No clumps or laborious stirring. Not sure if I just got an oddly smooth batch, but I loved that.
I took 2 grams on a semi-full stomach (my usual). The initial onset was quick. I felt that cozy warm Kratom hug that you’re supposed to get from red strains. It was soooo nice! Unfortunately, it was very short-lived. I only experienced about 15 minutes of warmth.
After that passed, I felt chill and balanced. The effects were delicate. My mood was lifted and I was able to effortlessly stay focused on my work. This lasted for about an hour and then completely wore off. I tried taking an additional gram to see if it would give me another slight boost, but I didn’t feel anything from it.
Overall, it was mild and subtle compared to other Red Maeng Da products that I’ve tried from different vendors. Aside from the initial 15 minutes of body warmth and relief, the effects were mostly in my head (mood boost/focused energy). The body feelings weren’t very pronounced. I wouldn’t recommend this for someone who generally relies on red strains for discomfort relief. But generally speaking, it’s good quality and does the job.

The prices are listed with an additional strike-through price displayed next to them. I’m not sure if this means these are discounted sales prices because it doesn’t indicate a specific sale anywhere. Regardless, I’m recording the prices exactly as I see them on their site.

The Final Verdict
The resonation was pretty good. My only complaint is that the effects wore off quickly. I typically feel effects for about 2-3 hours, but this wore off after about 45 minutes to an hour.
Before trying anything new, you should do your own research. It’s important to understand your personal preferences before purchasing. Also, since Kratom is not regulated by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration), you need to make sure that you’re purchasing from a trusted vendor. And that can be tricky. With such limited information about buying Kratom online, there’s a lot of room for error.
Luckily, Kraken Kratom has proven that they provide safe, high-quality Kratom because they are certified by the AKA (American Kratom Association). They also get all of their products lab-tested. 100% better than those generic brands you find in a headshop or gas station.
