A lot of people begin using kratom because they experience immense pain. They want to treat the pain without seeking addictive narcotics from their physician. Others seek kratom out to help them combat an addiction problem. A large portion of those people probably became addicted to pain medications from their doctors. So as you can see, a trend is developing. The average kratom consumer needs assistance to deal with significant pain concerns. But they refuse to risk addiction from the opioids that our healthcare system regularly prescribes to patients. That leads them in the direction to learn about alternative plant-based remedies. And within no time, they hear about kratom. Then once they try the herbal product, it provides the relief they need in their life. And those kratom consumers never look back.
However, some of those kratom users will wind up taking kratom regularly to deal with chronic pain issues. And a tolerance begins to develop from the botanical supplement. When that happens, their usual dosage no longer provides the same type of relief it used to. So that person begins adding higher quantities of kratom to their dose each time. Before long, they start searching the internet for ways to make the kratom feel stronger. Some internet searches describe natural supplements that potentiate the effects of kratom. But they’ll also read through sales pitches for kratom extracts on the market. Unfortunately, those companies refuse to disclose the ugly side effects. There’s more to those products that you should know.
There are different types of kratom products on the market. They come in various strengths, too. But one thing is common in all of them: kratom extracts are more potent than regular kratom products like powdered leaf or capsules. And that’s because those tinctures are a condensed, liquefied concentration of the alkaloids found in kratom. So you only have to take a small amount to feel similar effects to larger doses of kratom powder. For people who have never taken kratom before, that can cause unwanted side effects. Several threads on the internet discuss typical side effects users get from ingesting too much kratom tea. Some people get the wobbles. A few kratom consumers encounter dizzy spells shortly after overindulging. Still, others experience levels of nausea—some even vomit. Everyone’s body chemistry behaves differently. There are kratom users that have never felt anything from drinking an excessive amount.
But kratom extracts compound that dilemma. A small container of kratom extract throws a more powerful punch. And if you’re not expecting it, then the effects can overwhelm you. And that doesn’t bode well for the kratom industry. Those people might seek medical assistance. People do it when they ingest potent cannabis edibles. So it’s likely some of the population has also done it for kratom extracts. And that type of information makes its way to medical databases across the country. Plus, all of the federal agencies have access to that same data, which the federal government uses to persuade its representatives.
Another concern for the kratom industry with extracts is the argument of adulterated substances. The American Kratom Association (AKA) continually works on the clock to combat the narrative that federal agencies push about adulterated kratom. But scientific studies prove that the claims are not just a misinformation campaign. Actual reports from researchers indicate that some of the kratom products tested showed results for higher concentrations of kratom’s primary alkaloids. Kratom vendors or suppliers might do it to provide users with higher concentrations of the molecular compounds that produce therapeutic effects. Those commercially packaged kratom products had elevated concentrations of 7-hydroxymitragynine. Out of all the alkaloids found in kratom, it has a more concerning mechanistic and side effect profile. So raised levels of 7-hydroxymitragynine is a terrible thing for the kratom industry in general. And the way kratom vendors adulterate their products is by lacing powdered leaf with kratom extracts.
However, there are times when kratom tinctures assist people with unbearable pains. Regular kratom tea doesn’t do the trick in every scenario, especially if you already have a tolerance built up. But that doesn’t mean those products should be available on the market for anyone to purchase. Kratom novices don’t need extracts. And regular kratom consumers can create it for themselves. They should already know the risks and side effects associated with consuming them. And if they’re willing to seek out the information on how to make a kratom extract, then it’s likely they’ve been using kratom for quite some time.
Even if you can handle the potency of kratom extracts, other issues originate from using them regularly as well. Just like the regular powdered leaf you take, a risk exists for building a tolerance to the substance as you use it more. Sure, the concentrated amounts of the alkaloids hit you a lot harder and faster, but so does your need for higher doses to get the same effects. And trust me. Tolerance forms very quickly from kratom extracts. Before you know it, kratom extracts don’t provide the relief it once used to. Then you’ll be back on the internet looking for other options. Unfortunately, at that point, kratom products will no longer cut it. Then it’s back to the drawing board for your pain.
So rather than using more kratom powder or switching to kratom extracts to chase the feeling you used to get, you should try resetting your tolerance instead. Take a few days or a week off from ingesting any kratom. Abstaining from the botanical herb gives your body time to adjust and purify all the toxins out of your system. It recalculates back to the standard levels of chemicals in your brain before you started taking kratom. Those neurotransmitters will begin to act accordingly, too. And it resets your pain threshold. Within a short time, you’ll once again receive the same benefits you used to from smaller quantities of kratom. Switching kratom varieties can also help. Specific fermented kratom varieties contain altered amounts of chemical compositions.
There are various companies out there that sell kratom products online. Some even have a brick-and-mortar store. But you should only purchase kratom from reputable vendors that want the kratom industry to thrive in the long run. And that means those companies should provide pure kratom products in a natural state. But some kratom companies manufacture and market kratom extracts, too. And that type of merchandise creates problems for the entire industry. Those products add additional hurdles to jump over from a legislative perspective.
Several legislators have proposed the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) on the federal and state levels. Yet, other representatives refuse to co-sign the bill. Those politicians are afraid of what their constituents will think about the bill if it passes. Most of them hardly know anything about kratom, much less the science around it. So it would be difficult for those representatives to try and defend their position should an argument ever arise. Therefore, the kratom industry must prevent any unnecessary waves in the current legal dilemma that it faces across the nation.
One of the greatest weapons federal agencies use to turn constituents against kratom is fear. The FDA claims that people who ingest kratom products get high. Even though consuming kratom tea does no such thing. Still, kratom extracts that are marketed to users provide additional ammunition to the government in the debate. Extracts are more potent than powdered kratom. And higher potency kratom products should be something the whole industry tries to avoid.
